Date & Time:2016年1月13日

Organizers: Fair Consulting Co., Ltd., Takara Printing Co., Ltd., American International Underwriters Corporation and OBIC Business Consultants Co., Ltd.

Theme: The number of subsidiaries of Japanese companies abroad is 68,000 (7.5% growth), the highest number ever. Not only big companies but also small and medium-sized companies expand overseas dramatically. However, there are problems depending on countries, such as taxation risks, different language and business culture, and more and more companies expand but have to withdraw a few years later. “So how can we succeed in foreign countries?” The professionals of supporting overseas expansion will give you some clues to grow a strategy for business growth abroad and subsidiary governance.

1.Overseas expansion and development strategy for growth companies

Most of the smaller companies, especially the ones who collected their capital through Initial Public Offering (IPO) are demanded by Shareholders to develop a growth strategy and achieve results. Because of an aging society with a low birth rate, Japanese market is shrinking, and business expansion abroad is necessary for growth strategy. On the other hand, there is a necessity of new strategies in overseas markets because business cultures and laws are different from our country, which causes problems in a business environment. Speakers will present how growth companies should expand their business in foreign countries and create a development strategy, based on the experience and know-how from their overseas branches.

Speakers: Hiroyuki Araki, Manager of Global RM Department, Fair Consulting Co., Ltd.

2.Strengthening operation and financial management of subsidiaries abroad

The book “Jissen Keiei Tersugaku (Practical Management Philosophy)” by Konosuke Matsushita still now arouses the sympathy of many business leaders. The first paragraph is about “Establishment of management philosophy.” From my experience of working abroad for 16 years, giving a lecture on taxation to Panasonic’s subsidiaries and local managers, I will talk about: how to emphasize the importance of management philosophy into subsidiaries in overseas, what is required to promote the management abroad, the ideal local management, the point of financial management, essentials of internal control, etc.

Speakers: Satoru Shibata, Tax Accountant and Senior Consultant, Fair Consulting Co., Ltd.
